So there was this one fine tweet by A_dmg04, an entertainment community manager over at Bungie, cryptically commenting on wardrobe problems for the Tuesday stream, and that was it. Then, with the perks that the Destiny 2 players provide, even this chaos was born.
The tweet read, “Gotta figure out what I’m wearing on Tuesday. See y’all on the stream.” Oh boy, the reactions came in from there. One bunch of gamers took that moment to lay bare their frustrations about Destiny 2, others threw in some ridicule aimed at Bungie over its recent controversies, and some just simply missed the joke. Classic.
Pickle Rick started in on the ever eternal Destiny 1 vs. Destiny 2 feuding, denoting D2 to be a “disgrace” compared to its predecessor. Phoenix 🏳️⚧️ fired back with a retort, “Go play D1 and tell me it’s better, I dare you,” arguing that D2’s QOL updates just obliterate the old game. And then there was an anonymous user weighing in with a “😂 what a 🤡” simply because he/she could.
Then there were… the less-articulate ones. Cro0kedSmile descended into his tirade about “filthy lifestyles” and how Bungie is pushing their political views (because apparently choosing an outfit is now an actual political statement). Then there were people like MostlySoberJedi who kept it short with “Looks gay af.” Not so subtle anymore.
That said, not all of them were awful. A few gamers, like Insolent_JDNLC, showed some love for the mysterious stream, others questioning about the in-game wins (shoutout to Tomi69_420’s desperate plea, “yoyo can’t directly message,” about the missing quest).
So, what’s the takeaway? A_dmg04’s simple tweet was meant to be just a little bit of fun. But, in true Destiny fashion, it quickly became a battlefield. Some are excited about the stream; others are venting; and some are just here for the drama.
As for what A_dmg04 will wear come Tuesday? I do not know, do you? Perhaps something from the new Bungie apparel collection or maybe even something totally wild or nothing at all (thanks for that visualization, Maximillianno). Anyway, we’ll be tuning in for the mayhem at least or continuing to fuel the fire in chat.
Now, one thing for sure is that if this much crisis came on choosing an outfit, imagine some real news from Bungie. Hold onto your hats, Guardians; it’s going to be an insane ride.
