The gamer crowd is crazy with the near-totality of Monster Hunter franchises being discounted. The so-called Capcom Publisher Sale is ongoing as I speak, and so are the deep discounts on Monster Hunter: World, Monster Hunter Rise, their expansions, and the spin-off, Monster Hunter Stories. But while the sale is lighting the whole town up, all the chatter is on Switch 2 upgrades, missing ports, and new adventures in the series.
First, numbers. No kidding for the discounts-Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak has been 72% down just the other day, the expansion recent to hitting 10 million players. That’s a large price to pay for anyone who is just now stepping into the latest of monster-slaying adventures. Next ones to now hear about discounts on Monster Hunter: World and Iceborne expansions would be those who have been waiting for a discount on them. Better times to become a hunter indeed-good ticket almost given by Capcom to people.
Now, here’s the kicker. While the feast is happening on the PCs, the Switch owners have been giving their consoles some side-eyeing like “Well, when’s our turn?” The replies to Capcom’s tweet were flooded with demands for Switch 2 upgrades. Gamers like Lukas Zapletal blatantly asked, “Switch 2 please,” while some, like Razerhax, begged for “higher frame rates and better performance” for Nintendo’s next-gen hardware. Most recently, Steven (Hakuja88) chimed in, “Please release a Switch 2 update for better resolution and framerate!” The hype for Nintendo’s alleged new console is real, and every Monster Hunter fan wants their games prepared for Day One.
After that comes the elephant in the room: classic Monster Hunter ports, where? Players like Drago Valhar (Be4st_Within) oppose: “I have the entire Steam catalog of MH, where is the legends collection with 1-GU?” Felipe (beltranafelipe1) chorus: “Please port GU to Steam!” And at last comes the bit of chaotic energy of Pampa, which demands not only GU but also “a port of 3U and 4U.” The thirst for these older titles is beyond measure, and Capcom’s complete silence is just killing the vibe.
Then, Monster Hunter Stories is still kind of hurting, and Ink Hyaena gave us those eyes stating, “I just really want MH Stories 3 🥺.” And we can’t forget about the guy who just wants to throw Akuma on top of it (huge shout-out to MHD for that spur-of-the-moment yet totally funny request). The Stories series really has its cult following, and after Stories 2 did so well, it’s absurd that Capcom hasn’t even greenlit a third game yet.
Then there’s hype for Wilds. Lexhanda straight-up said, “(Primordial) Malzeno please come to Wilds!” and kata’s like, “Put malzeno in wilds.” The next mainline Monster Hunter game has been living rent-free in players’ heads for quite some time, and they’re loud and clear about what they want in it.
Actually, the most innocent MVP goes to ArtiFi: “Amazing news! Anyone who has not already got into this game really should take this opportunity right now! I love this game so much.” That’s the energy we need.
So yes, the sale is on, the discounts are juicy, but the real story are all the chaotic replies. Switch 2 upgrades, missing ports, Wilds requests-Capcom really does have a full tray to carry. And honestly, the gamers are not letting any of it fall off their radar.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go stare at my Steam cart and wonder why I don’t own Sunbreak yet. Wait, what was I saying? Oh right, go grab those deals first. Happy hunting.
