Another PvP mode was added to Destiny 2 by Bungie, and being a 3v3 mode, Heavy Metal really saw the reactions: practically a whirlwind. Heavy Metal consists of Guardians selecting Brigs or Tanks and then just going töräy on each other in empathetic-infused explosions, wherein some Guardians find it chaotic fun, while others decry it as an unbalanced mess. So what’s the catch with Heavy Metal, and why is it already splitting the community?

“For starters, the mode itself is simple: Get in a vehicle—you choose Brig or Tank—and blow stuff up. Brigs are fast and nimble, Tanks are slow, but they carry some big guns. Sounds good, doesn’t it?” Eh, not quite, a few people are not really buying it. One, a player on Twitter @RueDBoY cited unequivocally: “One side garbage,” Brigs ruled the roost while Tanks were but a punching bag. In contrast, there was @_rajzer, who called Tank movement clunky, only adding to his frustration in fighting.”

I mean, it’s not bad or anything. On the flip side, some Guardians were saying things like, “One of the best fun I have had in D2 in awhile” (@DakotaHarm94667), while @cronotyris was just straight-up: “Such a fun mode!” Perspectives are wildly bifurcated.

Next come the weird ones. @Jastin85251990 wants to petition for a new catalyst for a gun that would refund your ammo on kill, and @ATOM_C_ basically says that it’s just a distraction from the bigger fish frying in the game. Classic Destiny community arguin’ about everything.

Now here’s another voice. From the Linux side, @FrostyPixelsYT said he won’t bother with the game unless Bungie gets it on Linux. Fair enough. Again… good luck with that!

At the end of the day, Heavy Metal does have a big presence and huge noise-making. Whether these noises are cheer or screams of frustration depends upon who you ask. It is no small or big surprise such an event has been blamed for spawning mixed reactions: Bungie is infamous for that. But this is just one recent instance. Will they tweak it? Could be. Will the masses continue to play it regardless? Absolutely. Because, let’s face it, Destiny players love to gripe, but also love to log back in.

Should you be wondering where all that uproar is coming from, get in there and try it out and see on what side of the fence you fall-Brig or Tank. Back into strikes then, if not. One way or another, chaos is out and about, so no excuses. Out you go, blowing things. Destiny 2 and its ongoing evolution will keep players guessing.
