With the launch of patch 1.01.2, an expansion to Night Reign with an extra little batch of fixes for the punishing action RPG, several bug fixes targeted the Nightlord, weapons, and Guardian’s Remembrance, to name a few. The developers appear to be listening to the feedback, but players have expressed their distress about the issues omitted from the patch.

The official patch notes detail some of the bugs that have been fixed in relation to certain abilities and items. While the community had perhaps expected a sigh of relief after releasing the patch, it was apparently far louder in reaction. Twitter was overflowing with players responding with their personal wishlists of unaddressed bugs that need attention. And some of these are practically horrifying.

There appears to be a large chunk of it breaking right now. “failed to join team” is the regular error message during squad up with friends, says Renat4012 in outrage. We have more things, Spectral came back with, “How about you dont kick me out of the game when my friend has a revive and i dont. Just let me spectate bro.” That stung badly.

And then there’s the whole debate about solo mode raging within the comments. Gaurav Mishra called it “totally bs,” while others started debating whether that even was a fair difficulty. Monster_Huntres offered some hot takes, saying, “If teammates are incompetent thats on them lol. Not the games fault.” In the meantime, ScaduHorseRAAM went full-on PTSD talking about that hippo grab attack, which sounds like an absolute nightmare.

Luxury of Lag also popped in for some assist, asking for frame drop fixes during ultimate arts. Several others reported that shifting earth events did not trigger properly; a huge deal for those trophy hunters. Andy Kunz said it outright: “I need the vulcano for the trophy and i have not one of this events since some days.” Sorry, buddy.

These are just another kind of exceedingly irritating issue the patch would have closed. Nem expressed that he was pleased with the potential fix for holy damage relics not applying properly previously. Otherwise, the general view appears to be that through every update, Night Reign gets better and better, even if there are still a lot of areas that need attention.

Looking long-term, Hakai Shin 115 says, “see ya next year when the game is complete.” Meanwhile, most are tackling the issues and storming through tough boss strategies while debating balance changes. The passion is real–love or hate; many people care about this game.

FromSoftware utilized this goodwill almost to the extent that most players seem willing to be patient. The studio has a nice track record of supporting their games after launch, and this is a testament that they do listen every so often. Even with that being said, though, there are so many highlighted issues being raised that hopefully, we will hear about the next update much sooner.

For now, grinding will continue for Nightfarers, bugs and all. Because at the end of the day, even a janky Elden Ring is still one of the most compelling gaming experiences out there. Just maybe don’t try to play with incompetent friends unless you want to be totally frustrated. Or quite literally put by Monster_Huntres, “Expect to die alot and youll have alot more fun.” Words to live by in the Lands Between.
