Okay, this is some bit of really big new for all Xbox Series X and supposed Switch 2 owners. Final Fantasy XVI is out now! But wait-a-minute! Square Enix also later confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade was slated for an Xbox and perhaps Switch 2 release this winter. That announcement shook the gaming community to its core, sparking debates, excitement, and massive console wars drama in response.

So yeah, today is the lucky day for everyone who has been standing by for the dark, action-packed journey of Clive on Xbox. Goodbye waiting, goodbye exclusivity, and welcome pure Final Fantasy XVI goodness! And with that, this must really start: for those who didn’t get to enjoy FFVII Remake when it first came out, Intergrade with the Yuffie DLC is finally being released onto any non-PlayStation platform–about time!

The Twitterverse went absolutely freezy after this announcement. Replies to Square Enix’s tweet are all hype, salt, and just plain nonsense. Some are begging for a physical copy (shoutout to @JesvsInfante for “Both in physical for Xbox please ʕ•̫͡•ʔ “) while others are right in between the console craziness. One @Jaasenjones joked and said, “Ay, Caramba, the natives are getting restless” and honestly? That’s about right.

Then there is this… other side to the discussion. Some are oddly bothered by the rainbow flag on the promo art (seriously, @FunPlat just dropped, “Why the rainbow shit? 💩” like it’s 2010). Others would rather continue debating the performance, the exclusivity deals, and even whether FFXVI could run on the Switch 2 (spoiler: probably, but who knows?).

Physical edition supporters are not forgotten. @kev873 basically said, “If there’s a physical release, I’ll buy it twice. Digital and physical.” Legit dedication. I’m not opposed myself. Square Enix, pay attention; we do want collector’s editions.

But the real winners are those Xbox players that have been kept away from playing these games for so long because they did not want to actually pay for a PlayStation. “Hell yeah Xbox winning this year,” said one self-described “PS fan” @DemonDojima. That is a big statement coming from a PS guy.

And now, on the side of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is that about time for the Xbox guys to actually get to experience some Midgar. The game was screwing over Xbox for way too long (then PS, of course, and then PC) and now with Rebirth, somehow even more important to catch up. The only question now: Are there going to be physical editions or are we stuck with digital? (@animefrasier, y’hear me?)

Now which means Final Fantasy XVI is available for Xbox Series X|S, at least as the world waits on FFVII Remake for a few more months. Winter is setting in, bringing along one of the Best RPGs of this decade. Say excuse to me; I need to be entertained by keyboard warriors.
