Fortnite in their official twitter playlist teased, “Take note from this Supervisor, play Reload. Squid Game in Fortnite-June 27.” Instant hysteria engulfed the world.
The teaser image was posted alongside the tweet. It featured the infamous Squid Game logo’s transformation into a Fortnite logo, with the pink soldiers of the latter stealthily sneaking in the backdrop. Uncanny, yet in some way, it just works. Fortnite has wielded a knack for the bizarre collaborations for so many years: from Marvel to Star Wars, to now Squid Game. Because it can.
The tweet reactions went apeshit—some were excited, others were confused, and some begged for more collaborations (cough, calls from Death Note fans). One player, @TrpstrLeonGO summed up the hype beautifully, “Bet, can’t wait for the Squid Game action 🔥.” @Cheetohunter69 joked, “Maybe they can finally cheat the games since the guards are playing Fortnite, lol.” Classic.

Maybe even some eerie cosmetics for the pink soldiers or for the Frontman himself. The possibilities are endless and knowing Epic Games, they’re all going to be loud.
One thing is for sure: June 27 will definitely make the history! Mark the date if you want to be partying or just witness the sad spectacle of how Fortnite chooses to make sense of this. And if ever the entertainment can be something else, then at least witness how 100 players dropped from Battle Bus directly to a life-or-death Dalgona cookie challenge.
