The word out is soaring among Fortnite community members: there’ll be a trailer for Fortnite’s Summer Game Fest event on Friday! The news brought by a big-time Fortnite leak has divided the Fortnite community between excitement and much frustration; some are all hyped about what’s in store, whilst others are now wondering why Epic Games hasn’t spoken out yet about the new season.
After its initial showing at Summer Game Fest, this trailer is expected to give insight into potential new content that might make it into one of Fortnite’s major upcoming updates. But players haven’t gone passive, instead, they have made a loud chorus ensuring their grievances are heard. That recent Star Wars event destroyed their hopes, they say, as it failed to deliver any meaningful map changes and was subpar in character selection. One player outright called it a “cash grab” with many more agreeing.
But then if they continue to ask what’s going on with the new season’s battle pass, skins, and map changes, really, they can’t be complaining about the event, can they? Quite some few sickos who really wanted something from Epic about the new season say CYphers, especially with the current one almost wrapping up. “We’re legit not getting anything about next season? No teasers, no BP key art, nothing?” One player shouted that loud, while another grimaced, “Friday’s trailer better be way better than the one we got today bruh 😭💀.”
The Star Wars event is a sore eye. The players argued that what caused its failure were not the early teases, but rather the lack of updates and poor choice in character inclusions. “If Fortnite thinks that’s why Star Wars season failed because they shared battle pass key art and trailers early it isn’t that… It was bad because there weren’t good enough updates,” one fan said. Still hopeful for lightsaber pickaxes, ironically one of the most requested items that never materialized.
Deals started appearing next week, early enough for an actual launch event. The rumors are flying about possible crossovers, greeting Street Fighter and The Witcher to the item shop again. “Really hope because of the Game Fest we’ll see the return of Gaming Legends to the Fortnite shop!” tweeted a very hopeful player.
Needless to say, not everybody shares the excitement. Some users have offered a contrary narrative: “THIS WILL BE A WASTE OF TIME AGAIN,” one continued. But equally baffling are those wondering about the timing of the full trailer. “FULL trailer??? brah this season is almost over,” lamented another.
One thing is for sure: the Fortnite community has never been shy about popping their thoughts out. Few will ever say much while keeping their mouths shut when something is either a win or disappointment. Given that the Summer Game Fest is just around the corner, the longer we have to wait for the answer is probably going to be until then.
Save the date, folks because this reveal could either rake in the wins or give a whole new grounds for complaints, either way, it is one spectacle that needs to be seen. Here’s hoping that this time it’s a performance worthy of Epic.
