Capcom bombed the news with an announcement for Monster Hunter Wilds players: Community members get the chance to design weapons and pendants that can make it into the game. You did hear me. Not even a single word should have been wasted about boring Longsword designs (Grizz). Now is the moment to let loose, create, and see it implemented in the game.

Announced this week, players are invited to send weapon or pendant designs with #MHWilds #weaponentry or #MHWilds #pendantentry. Bit of icing on the cake? Winning designs may be officially added into the Monster Hunter Wilds. So this is no mere showcase for fan art; it is in-game art.

And the community has gone crazy already. A few are actively sketching their ideas, like RAZEWINGED for the Lucky Catch pendant, even providing plenty of notes along with the drawing. Stefan_tm31 is going full throttle with Gunlance designs, and Warfarer97 is still nagging from the iPad, promising views from multiple angles before submission.

Some, however, do feel uninspired. Nordially more or less admits, “I’m not creative tho,” whereas Angel_DeIight is impatient to see what madness will get selected, recalling the rocket-powered Greatsword from Monster Hunter World.

This one, though—WhiteOscreen is pretty much impatiently bombaarding TU2: “Bro, let them finish this contest first.” Followed immediately by the ever-popular pgumhcconpcac clamour for “please give us old Monster Hunter games on PC.” Some things don’t change.

All the necessary info about the contest is channeled to you by all official Capcom links, but in a thin nutshell: design something cool and tag it rightly, then cross your fingers that the devs will actually pick yours. Be it some slick-looking pendants or weapons that can fight a Rathalos single-handedly, the community’s big chance to make a far greater mark on Monster Hunter Wilds.

And the creative wheels are definitely turning. Lucky charms? Yes. Gunlances that deserve to be in a museum? Absolutely. So much creativity that it’s worth tracking that hashtag even if you’re not submitting yourself.

Happy sketching and designing, or just plop down on the couch and start watching the lunacy. Either way, it’s about to become a very personal journey for everyone in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Wouldn’t you say it could actually do with a Longsword that didn’t walk the line of butter knife?
