This sale marks the Monster Hunter Wilds‘ very first big one on the PlayStation Store, and the community? Let’s just say, not everybody is rejoicing. It’s about to be discount days before Free Title Update 2 goes live sometime at the end of June, but for now, all eyes are on what the game is refusing to do.
The sale will stay up until July 2, depending on your region, but performances, content woes, and a serious question: Can Wilds even be worthy of purchase nowadays? Proponents are outright asking for refunds because they snapped up the sale price, while some others have already gone back to playing Rise and Sunbreak. Ouch.
Performance issues are everywhere. PC players are loudly asking Capcom to remove Denuvo and get the optimization in order. One of them went on to say that if the community weren’t bonding together to create optimization mods, then this game would be dead on PC. Not a very proud statement. Console players have their own problems, otherwise: shimmering issues, and too little character customization.
Then, there’s the content debate; some view Wilds as too easy, with petty endgame content, and a dull plot. Someone called it “a chapter game”—drip-fed content rather than launching with it all complete. Others argued that it’s less grindy than previous games, but generally, the vibes are… mixed.
And meanwhile, Steam players are wondering when their sale would arrive. The PlayStation got theirs way earlier, to the chagrin of hunters on PC. Meanwhile, some are begging Capcom to just release a Monster Hunter Classic Collection instead.
In other words, Wilds goes on sale, but the real question is, should you buy it? Maybe, if you are in no rush for the updates and patches. Anyone looking for polished gameplay right now might want to stick around with Rise or World for some more time. Either way, Capcom certainly has a very long road before posing Free Title Update 2.
By the way, if you end up getting the game, maybe dive into the community mods. Just saying.
