Nintendo has coursed some spicy vibes toward Switch users: June 5 shall witness free upgrades for Super Mario Odyssey, Pokemon Scarlet Violet, and a few more of the titles, for performance enhancements on Nintendo Switch 2. The replies just went berserk; some were hyped about these enhancements, while others offered exuberant confusion and utter chaos.
What is going on, first of all? Nintendo is rolling out free updates for select Switch titles toward optimization on the next-gen console. Better smoothness, better visuals, and maybe some extras thrown in-the-however remain a well-kept secret under wraps alongside a hidden Mario level.
Well, everybody’s flooding the replies with demands. Xenoblade Chronicles X fans beg for upgrading. Bayonetta 3 small talk, wondering if their queen gets any love. Smash Ultimate players are now lamenting their omission. Oh, and there’s the one guy crying for GameCube controllers to return to the production line- priorities, I guess.
The real drama started when the discussion about whether these upgradings should have ever been paid for in the first place came about. Now, D2K Prime cracks on the haters, “They charge extra, you complain. When they give it for free, you STILL complain.” Whereas others like Polar Bear expounded on how the real madness starts if the price for new Switch 2 games surpasses $60.
The scene is graced by the Pokémon Scarlet Violet crowd. The game has certainly had that … let’s say mixed reception since launch, and an upgrade might be just the salvation it so desperately needs. A passionate fan argues, “Please fix Sword and Shield too- I can’t access my DLC!” That being said, Nintendo remains tight in the wallet.
And that’s where the madness spills-over, like with that guy who asked, “Who tf wants to play as Cappy in game share?” (Genuinely wondering.) Or the other guy who joked about needing to explain the Switch 2 upgrades to a Neanderthal. The cyberspace continues unruly.
So, what’s the takeaway? Nintendo is getting the hottest titles ready for Switch 2; the updates are free, but the question being: are we even going to notice the difference? Can Scarlet Violet ever run at more than 15 fps? Is Mario Odyssey finally getting that 4K upgrade? Can only one day-evening, June 5 reveal.
Till then, the comment section is going to be the battlefield of hype, salt, and GameCube controller shortage. Snarlingly Nintendo.
