PlayStation posted its newest tweet about PS VR2 basically calling on gamers to “outwit imposing threats or creatively accomplish your mission” in next-level VR. With the caption literally dripping with sunshine and rainbows, the comment section tells a somewhat different and more complicated story. Some are mad for it, whereas the rest feel they have been jilted by the first PSVR, and a huge chunk of people are just begging for more games to come to VR.

First came the stir-crazy hype-mongers. One proudly declared PS VR2 to be “the best VR headset out there with the best content,” and another even went so far as to say it’s “the only reason I own a PS5/PRO.” Oho! Really good stuff! Another player said that with PS VR2, it was really the life-changer they’ve been waiting for since the LEGO block-VIC-20 days. They said, “There was a feeling of wonder when I played video games for the first time. PSVR made me remember that.”

But a few others totally weren’t buying the hype. This one guy said that original PSVR was one of the “biggest wastes of money I’ve ever purchased,” and the limited game selections did nothing to enhance that experience either. Brutal! Somebody else claimed Minecraft VR was “janky” and desperately in need of developer attention. So yeah, the grudges are there.

And then you have the wishlisters. In the reply section, gamers are cascading down the wish list: Dead Island 2, Bioshock, Ghostbusters, Visage, Resident Evil 9 (more than one person begged for this), VRChat, Hard Bullet, and a 007 game need VR modes. Somebody went full caps-lock, “PLEASE MAKE A VR MODE FOR RESIDENT EVIL 9!! After RE4/8 in VR, I literally cannot play the games flatscreen!” The realness right there.

Some added a few good tech points. Another said VR is “really next gen” but needs “another resolution increase” before they’d fully ditch their TV, and a third advised that Sony should “set up in-store demo stations for PS VR2, because Gran Turismo 7 is the one game that will have you never wanting to race on a flat screen again”. And really, all of that soundings like a good idea.

And then…that one random dude who just said, “Yes, send me one.” Same here, dude. Same here.

So then what? The other-worldly experience of PS VR2 makes it that cult spectacle but Sony has some convincing to do with the rest of the skeptics-and maybe, just maybe, listen to all those game requests. Because if nothing else one thing is certain: Players know exactly what they want in VR. And they’ve got no shame asking for it.
