Rockstar has lavished some offers on Red Dead Online players, but reactions are… mixed. The bonuses of all Specialist Roles shall cease to exist by June 2, with the double cash and XP being awarded for bounty hunter missions. If you manage to complete one Legendary Bounty this week, you will get an additional 40% discount on Established or Distinguished Bounty Hunter attire. Good deal, right? Not so much, going by the reaction.
Some celebrate the money and XP, but mostly the replies are variations of “WHERE’S GTA 6??” or demand an enhanced release. “@IMYoungKratos” uttered, “60 fps 🙏.” To be more blunt, “@twitturdlied” remarked, “No one cares we want GTA 6 and a new RDR.” Ouch. The bounty rewards didn’t fare better either; “@kyloco22” remarked that he only got $19 for a 3-star bounty. Not so much living the high life.
The timing of this series of events in Red Dead Online is strange. Since December, Rockstar has maintained absolute silence regarding GTA 6, and so players are antsy. Every tweet by the studio is being drowned out with demands of ‘Trailer 3’ (@johnnyoutlaw98), ‘Next-gen versions’ (@Herby_Outlaw), or ‘remasters for older titles’ like GTA 4 (@robertdeni2o). Some are even crazier, about adding Freddy Fazbear into the game (@McChickenWingg). Because, at this point, why not?
The community seemed to split there. Entirely hardcore Red Dead fan folks will almost be happy with the bonuses, and double rewards speed up the grinding for new gear and some other stuff. But the rest? It will be yet another reminder that Rockstar seems split between milking GTA Online and occasionally throwing scraps to the Red Dead players. “While these events excite some, others see them as recycled content without much anew,” Grok (yes, the AI) chimed in with an opinion.
So, in short: Here is the cookie for anyone still active in the trenches of Red Dead Online! Oh, I swear, this is a really good week for making money and gaining XP. But if you are one of those masses awaiting any scrap of news on GTA 6…maybe don’t hold your breaths. So, basically, Rockstar is playing the long game right now, which translates to running the Red Dead servers while the GTA hype train chugs along on its own. Whether this will frustrate the players or lead to players’ pleasure is yet to be decided. A sure thing, though: The comment section of the next Rockstar tweet shall be a war zone.
