Square Enix dropped a casual Monday mood tweet, and the fans took it… turning into an intense listing frenzy. The original tweet said, “When we know the Monday is just a day away” with a sleepy face emoji. But the replies? It was some… pachinko. The players issued demands, sent nostalgic vibes, tossed in a few spicy remarks.
The Final Fantasy Tactics crowd came in early. @ProvidingChaos (JACK GARLAND on Twitter) outright demanded that Square Enix give Final Fantasy Tactics to GOG — literally no DRM, just the regular old Ivalice Chronicles version, standalone release. Not alone, either. Another player, @FeliciaRedwani, pushed even harder: she’d accept no re-release of Tactics that didn’t include War of the Lions content in its entirety—missions, characters, classes: the whole shebang. No half-measures, Square.
But Tactics was not the sole torment. @JSD4VAR came in angry for Sleeping Dogs 2, having platinumed the first one, and the community was eager to throw cash at the sequel: “We’ll be day one, sure, y’know… mood: Sleeping Dogs was really underappreciated, and they’ve been begging for a sequel for years.”
Now, those were spicy ones. One user (@ShiromiyaFubuki) slammed Square Enix’s corporate culture, and the other (@mega_mannen) flipped out over the company’s Pride Month branding. Yikes. Meanwhile, trying to set a positive tone, @TheDavidVinc sent out an “Happy Pride!!” with rainbow hearts.
And typical, bellowing from the wind. @lopartoto asks for FFT to be translated to Spanish (fair enough), followed by @sjfostersound joking about wishing that the Historia Crux from Final Fantasy XIII-2 was real so they could skip Mondays. Relatable.
Some just came in trying to get on the vibes. @RonimeShirai shot a “Happy Fathersday” amidst all of it, while @teacupdetox kept chill, saying they didn’t mind Mondays because it’s often cloudy. Deep.
So what are we to take away from this? Pretty much a nice little Monday meme from Square Enix, but the replies? A full-blown gamer manifesto. Remasters for FFX Tactics and Sleeping Dogs II, localizations that encompass anything random, then some corporate drama for good measure—all folded up into one thread. So if Square Enix were after feedback, they had it, and loud.
Now the big question is: will they level an ear? Is it just one of these times where gamers are screaming into the void? Only time will tell, but hey, at least we got entertainment. So, any Monday blues? More like Monday news.
