Capcom has just blessed the fighting game community with the news that more customizations will be arriving in Street Fighter 6 on June 5th! The update will bring VS Type layout and Sound Priority, a window for players to customize what they see and hear on challenge screens when queued for an online match. Because of this, it has actually become the talk of the gaming scene.

The announcement was made via a replaying chic interface for the pre-match personalization options through Street Fighter’s official Twitter account: no more staring at a static screen; now it’s all yours. Judging by the reply tweets, it appears that this is what the players have been begging for all along: a quality-of-life update.

One user, @Seahawkfan118, duly noted: “Nice, I can finally see my own artwork that I earned for. A nice update that’s very welcomed.” Others like @CDRmut kept it short but sweet and said, “sweet frfr.” Then, @phantcas went in full hype mode: “this is cooooooool.”

But as with all things, there were dissenting opinions. Some, like @RaikouRosario94, took that time to express other wishes: “How about we customize the appearance of our characters with more skins 🤨.” They do have a point there. @Xingu1arity_ turned to a bigger question: “Balance Patch? Outfit 3s?” Good old FGC—always wanting more.

That can perhaps mean minor yet impactful fixes that come before big ones. Maybe @saiyan_shadow put it best: “It’s the little things like this that do make the game feel more lively and interactive in between games.” @SirHonor531 added that, “I like this. It means I can appreciate the art of my own character.”

Now for the real thing: the FGC in itself. Not all replies were filled with sunshine and unicorns worthy of a fairy tale. Some players like @guiller_federer started the batteries on a downbeat note: “No throw loop.” On the flip side, @SubParStevie gave us a precise follow-up statement: “Online battle damage display when.” Priorities, man.

The best bit? It’s only the beginning. With Summer Game Fest about to come around, I bet Capcom will soon announce something bigger; maybe those Outfit 3s @Xingu1arity_ has been screaming for? Or a surprise contender? I have no clue.

For now, though, get June 5th circled in your calendar. Casuals will appreciate this because they want to show off their custom art while hardcore fighters will be on board with the update for the grody grind; that’s definitely a win-win for the Street Fighter 6 community.

And hey, if nothing else, at least there’s something fresh coming that we can all look at while waiting for the next match to happen. Because for real, forever staring at the same screen is no fun.
