Ok, Street Fighter 6 community, get ready, Elena is going to be available a day early! Capcom sprung a big surprise, announcing that the much-loved fighter will launch in the game on the 4th of June instead of the 5th, owing to the time difference issues that had coincided with the Fighters Edition release. Hype is indeed there.
So, why is it coming early? The official Street Fighter tweet didn’t expound much on it, but there clearly seems to be some tweaking with the timing of the global rollout. Rumors have it that it is to avoid some huge announcements in the gaming world (hey there, Switch 2 rumors), for others, it is an added reward. Regardless, this early release of Elena is already engaging conversations within the FGC about more than just the launch date.
Debates among players for where she’s going to be in the tier list have already started. Some responses came from xNightMareEffecT from a plainly presented question: “Yall think she’s gonna be top tier, mid tier or low tier based off what we seen so far?” Honestly, that question is worth a million dollars. From what people know of Elena, she is tricky in her dance-like movement and healing potential; if Capcom keeps her kit intact, she is going to be a nightmare in the right hands. Or… maybe she’ll have to be buffed in week two. Only time will tell.
The gameplay itself? The usual. But the costumes? That’s HUGE. Rui Costa tweets, “People are asking for Outfits 4… yup game really needs, but talking the truth here we should ask for Outfits 6 or Outfits 7 at this point.” You know what? Fair. Chun-Li, Mai, Cammy and Juri skins practically print money for Capcom … so why stop at just a handful? Some, however, are begging for crossover content, like Juri in Fortnite (yep, that’s an actual request coming from @JuriForFortnite).
Next comes the unwritten patch note mystery. Some players, such as @Overhaul89, plead, “Patch notes, too? 🥹,” whereas sharp minds such as Emezie Okorafor remind all, “Capcom historically releases the balance changes THE DAY OF the update.” So, no early peeking, folks; just wait it out.
Switch players, however, are suffering. @RitzScythe provides a warning: “PC is plagued with cheaters, turn off crossplay.” Oof. While @jeomatrixx is trying to squeeze Elena release in between the Switch 2 line: “I would like to try her but gonna be in line for the switch 2.” Priorities, man.
Then there are the wildcards. Like @yakubianzealot asking if Elena will “show me how to cope with the fact my wife left me.” Um… maybe stick to combo trials, buddy.
Bottom line: Elena’s early release is shaking up the Road, and the entire Street Fighter 6 ongoing community is here for it-whether they are ready or not. Anybody got popcorn for the inevitable tier list warfare?
