Well, well, well, look who chose to set the record down with few minutes late arrival. The Division 2 hit the Xbox Game Pass, and uh… let’s just say, things didn’t go well. I mean, umm… really weird mix of reception. Like the “why did you even bother” kind of mix.
Yes, so Ubisoft‘s looter-shooter sequel is now in the Game Pass library and should be good news… unless you have the whiff of that word doom with the players thinking the ship sailed five years ago. Responses to that announcement tweet from Xbox in itself can give you a mixture of indifference, frustration, and downright roasts. There was a player who remarked it was the worst thing saying, “7 year old game that’s not as gone as the original.” Oof, that one hurt deep.
And the DLC side of things. Several can rightly point out that the base game is included, the expansions are not, so well, defeats the point cause as @Lord_unknwn contrasted stands, “Without dlc, bad.” Like, real bad. @CheevoWaiting contextualized this further: “Played the DLC yesterday. Not good.” So, yep.
The Dark Zone (a PvP area) is being mercilessly shredded from all sides. “We really don’t care this game has been dead since they allowed people to cheat in the Dark Zone….” says one @LewdGeekTTV. Good advice from @Tiger_Tear goes something like: “Just stay away from dark zone – too many trolls in pvp area.” So, umm, maybe don’t go there if that’s where you’re going to jump.
The sun does shine for some! Some other folk find themselves excited at their return. @LozCorp tweeted: “Lolz ive installed it last night. Will be on in a few 💪 @GamePass is #SoMuchWin #TheDivision2” with a hype gif. @emcojoka replied: “Yes, it is a great shooter to hop in every few days. I had a blast a few years ago,” so… the list of happy people stands at… two?
And then there’s the all-too-loud chorus complaining about cross-save. @Vampero said: “I wish it had cross save. I won’t regrind it on PC for Ubisoft. Hell no! 👎” Then @XA_RichieEvans lamented: “I just installed it on my pc and it didn’t load my save I had on the Xbox. I’m not paying for the expansions again. So no cross save.”
@KnGNovaYT was calling out the fake hype right after: “Mfs ain’t played division in years all of a sudden bout to act like it’s gold cuz it’s on gamepass,” while @KittyMeow69EN kept stabbing Ubisoft with, “Ubisoft is desperate.”
But here’s the real question: why now? The game’s been out since 2019, majority of player base moved on an age ago while @CatGod25498285 so eloquently put it: “Thisbgamenisnhalf a decade old lol” (typos included because that’s how you know it’s real).
If you’re one of the few people who haven’t played it yet, sure, go ahead and give it a shot. The campaign is decent, especially if you’ve got a friend to co-op with (@Tiger_Tear basically backing up ” Overall a really enjoyable game, either solo or co op”). Just… maybe don’t expect a thriving community or balanced PvP. And definitely don’t expect all the DLC to be free.
And at the end of the day, feels like Ubisoft trying to hastily dump an old title onto Game Pass in order to squeeze out a few more dollars before everybody starts forgetting about The Division in general. Which, considering that @datboypunch jokingly “I guess i’ll just take this as the announcement for Division 3 coming soon,” might really be the way to go.
And, so, yes, Game Pass is hosting The Division 2. Some people have interest. Most don’t care. Same old livid mess that is still the Dark Zone. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
